6 to 12 v Conversion of Ferguson

I have just replaced the 6v generator of a Ferguson with a one wire alternator, I put in a 12v battery and I bought a 12 v coil and plan to wire it with now negative as ground.Do I need to replace points and condenser? Thanks for your help.-Ron

A few years ago I convereted a Minn Moline to 12 volt and left the 6 volt starter in. Sure started good and had no problems. Good Luck

Condenser and points will be fine. There is no such thing as a 6V or 12V condenser. When the points open,there is a voltage spike of several hundred volts induced in the primary winding which the condenser easily absorbs,so it does not care what the system voltage is. The wiring posted below is very good.Make sure you connect the coil neg terminal to the distributor for a neg ground system.
