I just got a three point hitch installed on my Farmall M this morning. The thing works GREAT! The guy I bought it from couldn't remember what the make was and there is no mark. I know it's not a Saginaw. He seemed to think it came from "down south somewhere, like Arkansas or Alabama". Does anyone know of an outfit that makes those things down there? It has one piston on it ("Chief" on the piston) with a 3" bore and 8" stroke. I'd just like to know what it is.

Could it be a Worksaver?

Check it out @ www.worksaver.com

Page down to hitch kits then to 3 pt conversions. It lists one for an M and you supply your own cylinder.

Hi there Les,

Great. I'm sure you will find it very useful. I don't know who actually makes 3pt hitch conversions. The one I got years ago for my Oliver (from what then was Central Tractor) I don't think had an actual manufacturer's name associated with it. At least I don't remember anything specific. I do know that Chief is a common name for hydraulic cylinders in recent years. I purchased a Chief a couple of years ago from Surplus Center for my rake. I think it was made in India but seems to be of a very good quality and was a reasonable price. I think (not positive) that 3pt conversions are generally not supplied with the cylinders. That's something the customer has to provide separately. At least I had to.

That's the item. I got this from the feller who bought it new and he said the cylinder was part of it.
I like your little website, BTW. Good one.
