Hi, I listed a loader for a d-14 the other day, and sure enough, I received a response from one of those people who supposedly send a cashiers check and you send a balance to some one else, you know the scam?! Well, when I received the email, for one it was so obvious that it was a scam, for they had no idea how to use proper English terminolgy, always spelled check "cheque"(wonder what nationality they are?) and was piecing together sentences terribly. It was quite good humor just trying to read these, as it was either from a foreigner or a 2 year old child! No more than a half hour later, I received another one from someone else. Unbeleivable! I ended up receiving emails from 3 different individuals, all basically the same but different IP's and little things.
So I figured at this time, since I was bored and they had wasted my time and everyone else that they have contacted in the past, to humor myself with them and waste some of their time. I pretended I had no idea what was going on, I returned a few emails to them as if I was interested in pursuing their offer. Too Funny. It was like they were glued to their PC waitng for responses. I received several emails in reply, and at this time decided to go a little farther. I replied to one and explained I had interest from another party, since my ad did say "or best offer", of $900. They replied ok, and delivered the same old spew that they stated earlier, so I notifed the other ones, and they replied with offers of $1,100 and an offer of $1,200. Once again I sent a reply to the other stating this, and lo and behold... another response for $1,500. WOW, what a jump, $300!! must really want it!! And again the others followed up with a higher offer.
I fianlly had them up to over $2,000 for this. Reminder, my ad stated $700 OBO for a Paulson trip loader with snow bucket. Well, I finally got tired of it (who knows how high they would have said, probably more than a new one!)and forwarded all correspondence to the FDIC so they can look into it.
They probably will never be able to catch people like this, it is a shame, people like this are what is causing the loss of peoples trust in each other. Do they think we are just "dumb ol' farmers"? Have any of you had these offers? place a follow up, and share your encounters.
Just remember, these guys are just plain old thieves, they are trying to STEAL YOUR money! I think it is time we waste their time, humor ourselves and then forward any info to the FDIC, you can get their(FDIC) email through the scam alerts you see in the classified section. just never send any kind of personal information what so ever to them(scammers) ever!
I look forward to reading your posts and seeing just how big of a problem this is.
Have a great day! Shane

I used to use check but my wife says it is wrong and to use cheque and we live in Alberta. I still don't know how to spell it as it seems to be similar to spelling of some French words.

Do you think these people may be a front for organized crime. So all these people are computer literate and know which forged bank checks to use.

I guess this system of scamming must be working. I would think if these guys didn't get lucky once in awhile it would probably stop. My opinion push the delete button the minute you see one of these. I used to get these offers every week or so 4 years ago. Today I might get one every 3 months. The very best way to deal with these guys is ignor them. The will get some people, no question, but then fools and their money soon part company.

As for check versus cheque, I think you should broaden your horizions. There is good reason for these guys to judge you as they do.

Someone posted a month or two back that they were threatened enough by scammers (who had their address, from sending a fake check) that they contacted local law enforcement. I'm sure it's not likely that a scammer would have a couple of da boyz stop by your house, but perhaps not impossible???

I believe in many parts of the world, the spelling "cheque" is usually used. As for the bad spelling and bad grammar, I have read that it is done on purpose by the sending party. Reason? To make us (you) feel superior in intelligence to they are, sort of gets us thinking we're pretty smart. Obviously, the scams work sometimes and thats why these guys are still doing it. As for playing around and wasting their time (and yours), I think the best way to deal with it is just ignore it. Interesting post though, just shows us how they operate.

I think the best solution is to reply to these scammers with 100,000 emails, all with bogus email addresses and names. Make them go through all of them, trying to find a real sucker. When crime becomes harder than working, they'll get the idea. I know this won't be done by the good folks here, the flood of emails would tie up the servers and IPs, slowing down the internet. However, it sure would feel good to make the bad guys suffer a little.

Englishteacher, I would have to say, that this was supposed to be a fun post, but since you are being critique, you should take a look at your fragmented sentences and capitalization at the beginning of a sentence. For an all american country boy, I am still glad my english teacher would have put a D- beside your follow up. If you want to criticize, heck, maybe it was you on the other end, criticize the copy and paste below. This is one of the many I received. Shane

Saw a 7240 a while back on ebay and it was for $12,000 buy in now Free delevery. I emailed the joker and said I would go ahead and take the tractor and ship it to my CaseIH dealer as I was sure he would understand me purchaseing a tractor that cheap and to send the sn# and A clean bill of sale and we would check for leins and I never heard another word. I emailed him back and said I was going out of town for a couple weeks and He could contact the local sherriff as it would need to be inspected when it arrived and I would have a draft ready and he would have it. For some reason I still havn't heard from him and we are starting to get buisy farming and I may have to email him again and see when it will be in.

How long before they realize everyone is aware of this scam? As to the spelling (cheque), most foreign countries teach English as a second language, but they teach "Queens English", or "Old English". Noticed this in Taiwan and Korea.

Fellas, we had CHEQUE drummed into us at school, CHECK means to inspect, ETC. how come its confusing? maybe thats why we wear boots without shoelaces. thanks for inventing the elastic sided boot chappies!!!!!
