When it comes to old tractor parts, Case IH beats JD or NH around here. The local JD dealer & the NH dealer are quick to say "that part is not available any longer". The IH dealer seems to have no trouble getting (and often has in stock) parts for 50 yr old classic tractors that I work with and buy & sell.

A lot depends on the year, make, and model. As a rule, I am moving to 76xx-77xx series Fords due to repair costs. The large supply of aftermarket parts keep downward pressure on OEM parts prices. I love Case and Case David Brown tractors but the repairs were killing me. As a rule, JD used to be out of line on price but lately (last 5 yrs)they are much more competitive while IH is getting out of sight. As the others say, dealer makes a difference. My NH dealer usually has what I need and gets it to me next day (or I can go get it if I need it now).

Thanks for your responses, I wanted to see if there was a particular manufacturer that more people favor towards parts prices.

That's tough to answer. I deal with two - New Holland dealer for my 8N Ford and John Deere dealer for my 720LP two-cylinder.

Basically, the New Holland dealer is very friendly and willing to work with me. The parts guys are good and knowledgeable. I have been able to get every part i need from the dealer. Sometimes their prices are cheaper than mail order. The service department won't touch an 8N, though.

The John Deere dealer has been able to get me all the parts I need, although it depends on who is behind the counter as to the quality of service I get. Prices are on the high side of reasonable. But i'm happy just to be able to get a new part for a tractor that's almost 50 years old.

Just my two cents worth.

Why not worry too much about replacement parts, go for the one which wont break so easily!

The MF in my opinion.

Dont buy a NH

example of the reason why!

Thats an almost impossible question to answer in general. Basically each individual dealer has their own mark up structure, [within factory guidelines],so you just have to shop around. John Deere tends to have higher prices around here, but their service, availability and shipping speed is vastly better than their competitors. Which means I only scream half as loud when I get a price quote. CIH used to be pretty good shipping time, fairly high price. But since the CNH merger they begun to share the same fate as New Holland. Meaning unless you want to Over night order [and PAY for!] your parts, they will get here sometime in next couple of weeks, sort of,maybe. I will say some NH dealers are better than others, But that means the dealer is just as frustrated as you are. Well thats my experiance anyway.

That is kind of a loaded question. All 3 sell some of the same parts bearings, seals, and other common parts. You would just have to shop around as sometimes one is lower and next time they are higher. I have found out that Cub Cadet is outragious on thier filter prices for compact tractors right now.

I feel like we pay too much for all parts from the dealers and wish that we had stores like Advance & Auto Zone that handled replacement or after market tractor parts. About the only one now that has some of them is NAPA ( which I have found to be of good quality and less than dealers price ) I guess that what I am trying to say is we need more competition than we presently have.

I buy JD and NH parts regularly and prefer JD prices and service. Everytime I go to the local NH dealer I feel like I've been ripped off. I think that a lot has to do with the local dealer. I don't have much experience with AGCO parts.

I'm not trying to start a color war,but I would have to say Deere,if you are talking original parts. Some things may be a little higher, but if you factor in that the part you need,if not in stock,is usually ordered in by the next morning . This can make a big difference to those people that depend on their equipment for their livelyhood. A $20 part, that you have to wait for, for 4-5 days, can translate into thousands of dollars in lost crops,or production. Not to mention the fact that they still have alot of parts available for tractors and equipment they manufactured 60+ years ago.

I agree. JD parts and service is hard to beat. We've dealt with all three and I'd place JD first.
