Thanks for the quick response. I forgot to say it is a Massy 2775. I ask the fellow that owns it if he was sure and he said he checked into it and they told him there was only to 1000 speed on that tractor. (meaning the one he had I am sure). I later talked to his son who ran it most and he affirmed the single pto speed. If you are familiar with the 2775 let me know of pros/cons befor I buy please. Bob

Larger tractors come with only 1000 rpm. Ex: JD4450 is 540/1000, 4650 is 1000. Cutoff is about 150hp, but not a standard.

Are you sure it is only 1000 rpm? Most have facility to change stub to change speed, these days, I thought. So tell us, what tractor? Let those that know about that model be of help. Regards, RAB

If it is a green 4020 you have 2 splines supplied with the tractor and the unused one is stored adjacent to where it is used. The 10 (as I recall)splined adapter is the 1000 and the 6 is 540. The back end of each is different and picks up a different drive in the rear of the tractor. Takes 5 min to change over.

Now, for the record. I used to mow with a 6' mower and a 96 hp tractor. Seemed stupid to me to run that big tractor at full PTO rpm's (540) for obvious reasons. As I recall PTO was 2000. I installed my 1000 rpm spline and cut the tractor back to 1000 rpm and everything was much better; quiet, low fuel consumption, low wear and tear. The tractor was LP so it didn't care that it was not revved up all the time.
