OT--Perhaps I'm Whacky

TV Land is running the old 1960's show Green Acres again. I watched it in my childhood and caught bits and pieces of re-runs over the years, but this Saturday I found myself watching this show intently.

Maybe I'm whacky, but it IS funny. It appears that the producers of the show really knew rural humor. It's just good, clean fun. Really like the old Fordson Mr. Douglas used to pull out a stump, and who hasn't met a Mr. Haney character in their travels?

My wife and daughter just shook their heads and rolled their eyes when they caught me watching it.

Enjoy watching it. Sure beats most of the garbage shown nowdays which are so disgusting I won't watch most of them when I see a few minutes of them.

Joe,

If you're wacky, so am I. Green Acres is my all-time favorite TV show. I live in Middle Tennessee, and I swear, I am reminded of that show almost daily by someone in my community. By the way, I love them for it. They're just down home folks, and I feel right at home with them.

I'm glad you brought it up. It is one of my favorite shows. O W Douglas and I have more than a little in common. Nothing wrong with your taste in TV from my perspective.

know what you mean; inlaws are hungarian, have driven me to distraction telling stories with no NOUNS. sentences have no begining or subject. Louie started a story and I flashed on Zha Zha while smiling and nodding.

I know real people who are the equivalent of those characters. I see a bit of myself in one of them. A gentle correction: The correct word is "wacky".

When we moved here in '72, I noticed that Mr. Haney and OUR county agent were almost identical! One had a slight accent.
