I have a 2010 narrow front with 2 number 18 planters. I need a drive chain for one and the dealer doesnt even list this planter. It is john deere and came with the tractor new in 63. Any ideas on where to get a new chain would be appreciated. Thanks Buster

Any good farm supply place will have flat & roller chain. Most any machinery dealer worth their salt will have it in bulk as well. You should be able to find any specialty chain from the bigger outlets.

I only ran into one roller chain that no one ever heard of. It was on my MM D corn sheller. it had the same pitch as a 50 (or 40????) but it was wider than what you buy now. No one was able to match it, they figured it may have been some odd military surplus. The sprockets handled regular stuff anyhow.

#60 comes in a wide version like you mentioned with the smaller chain- it's called a 60H. Miserable discovery lying under a Gleaner corn head at night, trying to reattach ends, and never ran into that before. Does the 40 or 50 come in an 'H'?.

If you can't find the numbers as suggested, can you bring the sprocket to a chain dealer to size it. Or buy a couple links of a variety of sizes. You can measure around the sprockets to determine the length needed. Any good farm supply store should carry a variety of flat chain, as well as roller, pintle, etc.

I presume you need flat steel chain "detachable link" type. Do you have any of the old chain for reference? There should be a number stamped on each link... 42, 52, 67, etc..

Email me, and I can give you the Deere part #, if you have the number on the chain, or a chart of Deere steel chain part numbers and dimensions referenced to part number.
