Totally hypothetical.

If Agco were to re-release the 8070 exactly as it was in the 80's but with a Cummins and a decent price tag, how many currently active farmers would jump? What other tractors of the late Allis era would you like to see back?

This type of discussion starts on the N board periodicaly. Why not reproduce the little N tractor but maybe with live hyd, live pto, maybe a little bigger engine and better fuel mileage(diesel)and maybe make it a little bigger and 4wd.

The improved repro of the 8N has already been done. It's called a Mahindra.

If you are looking for a plain vanilla tractor how about a MFWD in a 53HP 5205, 95HP 6603 or a 105HP 6715 from Mother Deere? Electronics are not complicated and are a better way to control than using rods, levers, linkages, hydraulics etc.

I would much rather see some models from other companys reproduced than the allis line.

Didn't they try that a few years back with the agco star four wheel drive?

Good question. The star was basically a 4w305 with a drastically higer tag. So, do we demand the technology nowdays? Are the electronic hassles worth their weight?

"Are the electronic hassles worth their weight?"
I use to go to an industrial scrap yard, they got the scrap from one of the 'b i g' guys you wouldn't believe the new electronic parts that had to be replaced under warranty I assume. Think of the cost to the farmer, in a few years after warranty. If the electronics go the way of the autos, call the man, I mean pay the man.

IMHO most of the electrical whistles and bells are a way to increase the price and reduce the longivity of a piece of equipment.

Isn't a Cummins with a decent price tag called a Versatile?

Just for fun Bob, I'm curious to see what people think about it 19 years later.

I read somewhere that Mahindra is in cahoots with Mitsubishi and they have developed a pretty solid little tractor.
