My pet peeve is that you have some one in dire straights, asking for help. You give it and never hear from the sucker again.

My advice to you suckers is this. If you ask for help and get it answer it. If you don't have guts enough to answer it, don't bother us with your problems.

Mark

Hey dude, thanks.

I'm a city boy trying to get country....been trying for 25 years. But when my old iron breaks, I need help. I get it here and don't mind thanking for it especially if the helper knows what he is talking about.

I think that deserves a thank you, at least a "hey dude, you know your stuff"...or you are full of dung...whichever applies. If I went to my local implement dealer, that thank you would cost a bundle. Here it is free and sometimes with loving affection.

Best.

Mark

In the spirit of preserving board space, being polite, padding egos, saving others clicking finger by at least one click, and all around covering my basis - I am going to go ahead and say thanks to all who have helped me in the past, and all who will help me in the future.

Thanks

There - feel better?

Dan

Yes sir, thank you.

You know, you get involved in helping a person and want things to work out for them. You want to know if you answered the problem or missed it or didn't know what you were talking about. Sometimes you wait and wait and all.

Yesterday I was waiting for several and they didn't come and I vented.

Ok, I'm sorry!

That's the point. No feedback, you don't know so how are you to know the next time.

When a person asks a question about a problem and gets several different possible solutions it is nice to hear what actually solved the problem. That helps us all know what to try when we have simular problems.

Absolutely. This is a learning process for all of us and when we miss it, we may learn what we missed by feedback being received and a more knowledgeable person jumping in.

Thanks,

Mark

Gee, Mark, an attitude like that, suggests that you are not so much interested in helping someone, as you are padding your own ego. Do you feel inferior? are you asking for help? Almost every question ends by saying, Thanks for the help. What else would you have someone do?

I never give a thank you because there is no need to clutter up the board with a a thank you that has to be read by all who read the message. I have been helped a lot and i do thank you all much!. The tractor fraternity is like family we all take help and in return just help others.

I disagree and no one (Kim) has fussed at me for using too much board space. Feedback is what makes us smarter and our answers more factual.
Thanks,
Mark

I do not feel any need for feedback concerning anything I have volunteered on this or any other talk forum. Every time I post it is purely my decision to press the send button, the person I am replying to has no obligation for my actions. The only thing that bothers me is when someone emails me about something I posted and I can't remember the original subject.

It's not sensitivity, it's accuracy when you can help, and learning why you didn't.

Mark, If you are offering advice or answering a post expecting a "Thank You" note in return, perhaps you are doing it for the wrong reason. While a "Thank You" is polite and appreciated, I hardly think it a requirement, or a reason to get bent out of shape.

I know when I post for help I sometimes can not find my posting again to post my "thank you".

I do too. Also, I know that some suggestions take time to implement so there is some delay there and there's no telling how long before you can (if you want to) respond as to how things went.

I just got over-anxious last night.

Thanks,

Mark

I am sorry you feel that way Mark. I know I have not always responded whem I have recieved good advice and may times my advice goes unanswered too. It puffs us up and makes us "feel good" to get lots of replies to a post, but realy that ain't what it's all about, so I am going to keep on trying to be helpfull, expecting nothing in return.

Cowman, Maybe what I say here doesnt merit much thanks, but if it does, the best way to show appreciation and express thanks is to help others by sharing and extending expertise and knowledge.

Back to my original point. If we don't get feedback how do we know we are "extending knowledge and expertise" or just blowing smoke.

Thanks,

Mark

Thank you sir.

I don't think a lot of folks realize the "pot of gold" this site offers by it's contributors. I've written on this several times about how a cold rainy day turns into spring flowers when someone can (and does) solves your problem..... ..... .....and it's totally free with the willingness to share so that others might have.....and do a sanity check on you (the responder) to see if you know what you are talking about or not.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
I would have to agree! - It's not so much the "thank you" that is important,
it's did the info work as explaned, or did he go nuts trying to use info not right
or misunderstood by either party.
So what's the Problem in saying thanks ( it worked).
There are a lot of tractor newbees out here. me to. Thanks for my say. Remember everything is basic, "after you know it"

Hey Mark, they didn't even come close to working you over. I've seen this subject kicked around many times over the past five years.

You acquitted yourself well and I, for one, am proud of you. There are lots of good people on this board and you are right up there with the best of them in my opinion.
