Folks, Most of us from time to time have involved ourselves in O.T. (off topic) discussions, and from time to time the question arises as to whether this is the place to discuss things other than tractors, which is the primary reason we come to this site in the first place. It seems that what we say here does not go unnoticed by Kim and Co., as they have chosen to feature a particular post and ensuing responsed. It was from one of our younger readers, and his question recieved much response. He must like tractors and the people here or I doubt he would have spilled his guts the way he did. While his post was totally O.T., the fact that this young man thought enough of the people here that he could voice his concern and question says volumns not only about the people here, but the fact that there are reasons beyond what anyone of us can state as to why O.T. topics have value here as well as just talking tractors, tools, equipment, etc. I hope that everyone will take the time to read the article as it is printed in its entirety, and archived, so that whenever one of us are tempted to to wonder why we must allow O.T. discussions, that we will be reminded that we may impact someones life in ways we never dreamed, and that life is more than just tractors. I also hope that Kim will run that post periodically for all to read from time to time. I think that the youngster who posted the question feels the same.

I have no problem with the O.T. posts. Infact I enjoy most of them and sometimes am able to add to or maybe help the person out. If we can help people in this way I am all for it. I will say I don't want to see the forums here become off topic all the time, but the occasional O.T. is fine. I like it the way it has been and live this site.

Well said Paul, I didn't offer any advice to that youngster. I couldn't improve on what others had said, but I certainly felt for him. My Daddy was a taskmaster and I didn't know how much I loved him until he was gone. I miss him even more thirty years later. I enjoy the off topics. I would rather have something to read, if I choose, than check in here and find nothing new. Cosmo

Oh no, it's the pro OT activist, LOL. I have no problems with OT posts, as long as they don't outnumber the tractor topics. A while back, I pointed this out and got a few smart a** remarks, just returning the sarcasm.

Sarcasm. I thrive on it. I'm probably one of the ones who made a smart a** remark if you are the Forum Police. :)
