Thinking about a reconditioned Yanmar from 1984 that is supposed to be the same as a John Deere 1450. Seems like a nice big rugged machine. Does anyone out there have either machine and would you recommend it to someone who does a lot of bush hogging, stone and wood moving and snow removal....Currently have a Ford 600 and Intl. 300 utility and would probably have to get rid of one or both to get the Yanmar. Would you guys do it or keep the old iron. Thanks in advance.

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

As near as I can find out,,and I would like to know more. The Japan sold tractors are the same-only not the same as the US company. Some parts might fit, some not available. I am told that if you go into a JD dealer for Yanmat parts, you are unwelcome. As for yanmar,I understand that 3 digit models were sold here, 4 digit are greymarket. I had a 336 located and he yanked it off the farm auction. Grey market some times have 4 speed PTO and those DEEP tread tires. Most have 4WD that might be nice with a small tractor and loader. I would like to know more and see dealers for them..tired of 3600 dollar TO30's and 8N's.

It's a YM4500D--so I guess it would be a grey market. Also it does not have ROPS, which it should have.

Be wary of "reconditioned" import Japanese tractors. Parts can be difficult to get and some of the "reconditioned" units are pretty well worn out units from SE Asia, that are just spiffed up a bit and resold as "reconditioned".

I'd keep the old stuff, but I'm talkin' from the heart, not from the head. I love using the old stuff, but if I NEEDED to get things done in a hurry, or did it as a business, I might be talkin' differently.
Can you bear to be without the old iron?....Stan
