I am cleaning my remote oil filter canister, and am concerned that it may have some pluged holes in the center tube near the very bottom of the canister. However, I don't see any holes way down at the bottom of the center tube. I only see a few holes about midway on the center tube. Does anyone know if there are indeed holes near the bottom of the tube. I have blown air into the center drain fitting and it did not appear that any holes are down there, but I just can't imagine that the few holes on the center tube are enough.....

Thanks

A remote canister type it is not a full flow filter. It only filters a slight amount of the oil at a time, usually picking up its feed from an oil galley fitting. The holes you see are all that there is,enough to let the oil in and back out. With these type filters, regular oil changes with a good quality oil is a must or you will have clogged oil passages, and a sludgy mess in the engine because the majority of dirty oil remains in the engine and is not cleaned by the filter

Thanks Brokenwrench....

It was sludge that caused me to open the engine and look at all the inner workings including the oil filter canister....thanks for the information.
