Outlook Express ver. 6; in process of receiving one message for better than 4 hours; still hasn't all got here; messages (according to send and receive window) piling up behind it. Is there any way to "bounce" this one or skip it, or abort it or something? Logged off to see if that would help, but it started right back up, when I came back on line. Do I just need to contact my server and see if they can stop it on that end? This is a dial-up connection.....

Thanks to Jay, Nathan and Steve; did as y'all suggested; it worked. Nothing unusual in the e-mails; apparently it's on the server's end; understand they're "overloaded" because of all the viruses going 'round.

Do you run anti-spam software? Norton anti-spam will self teach itself and occasionally it thinks a regular email is spam and prevents it from downloading completely(locks up). Disable anti-spam, download messages, then clear the anti-spam self teaching history. You should be able to operate normally then. It works for me, hope it does for you.

Go to the Lauderdale County homepage. You can get to your email there. I have forgotten how to do it.I think you can delete it from the homepage. Not sure. Need further help, contact me directly and I will email our server.

I went onto the homepage. When you get the big menu with all the buttons like religion, chalkboards, etc, go down to the botton and there is a button that says "Lctn.com Webpage". You will have to give your user name and password. You will be able to delete or even undelete emails.

When this happens to me, I disconnect. Then reconnect and go to www.mail2web.com. You can view your email and delete any before downloading to your computer. It gives the file size. Works great when away from home also.

Most providers have a way of viewing your emails online. This allows you to check your email if you are traveling. As a bonus, it always allows you to delete an emails that may be too big for your connection to handle. You only open the ones you want. Contact your ISP.
