Somebody has a bunch of beanie babies under the ytmag misc. auction section. What in the heck do these have to do with tractors, etc?

C'mon, sell that crap on ebay.

Re: OT How did you choose your career? in reply to bkpigs, 01-07-2011 11:59:03
I grew up on a farm and after high school I worked in a neighboring apple orchard for two years. It was fun in the summer but crawling up in a tree in the winter when it was 10 degrees out changed my mind. I quit and went to vocational school for auto mechanics and found a job at a small shop. That turned out to be a dirty, pressure to get jobs out without any help awakening. The local large factory had some job openings. I put in an application and about a week later I called them back and they told me to come over. I started in the punch press dept which was hard work and monotonous. I worked the night shifts and went back to school in Industrial electronics. After completing two years of school with very little sleep the company was just starting maintenance apprenticeship programs. I got into the Mechanical program and after 5 years of that I applied for the Electrical maintenance. That is where I ended up and am now retired after 39 years at that company. I didn't have any real plan but just kept trying to improve whatever I could. I have some tractors and implements that I play with and that is what draws me to this and the Tool Talk site.

You guys sound like a bunch of babies. Who's to say a tractor collector doesn't collect beanie babies. Maybe one of us tractor guys would like to get some for our daughters or granddaughters. I also thought misc meant misc, meaning anything a person wanted to list. Where does it state that it has to do with tractors. I don't know what gives you the right to call other peoples stuff crap.

It would be appropriate for farm-related items, but beanie babies? C'mon!

What's next, dishes, old clothes, knick-knacks, and barbie dolls?

Let's keep the Web site tractor/farm related.

I think the market will take care of this. Once the seller realizes nobody goes to the YT auctions looking for Beanies they won't waste their time putting them there.

Or who knows? Maybe there's a bunch of closet Beanie collectors in the YT ranks.

I agree, although everyone has a right to buy and sell what they like, there are proper places to list certain things. Next thing you'll see is clothes, shoes, pots and pans and household stuff. It'll take 2 hours to look through everything. This is like listing a welder in jewelry on ebay. they have the right, but makes absolutely no sense at all. If they want to trade for tractor parts, put all in one classified ad and state for trade, not individually in auction!

I saw those also, apparently, the seller has found out the truth about beanie babies, those things are not collectible, nobody wants them, and the people who bought them thinking they were an investment, are now just trying their best to find a market for them, when what they should do is just cut their losses, and send them to the landfill.

They were a craze. The only end you want to be on of a craze is the selling end.

Maybe they are hoping to swap one for a tractor. I understand that some of those things are worth as much a tractor.

Like a year or so ago I walked into Burger King for a quick lunch and in front of me was this line of mamma's and screaming kids trying to figure out what kind of toy they were going to get.

I asked the attendant if this was a toy store or a place to eat. Blank stare response.

I have four young kids and do go to Burger King and McDonalds. If somebody like you acts like that around my kids, the cops will be there before I get done with you!!!

Now just why is that? What motivated you to say what you did about cops and all? Cops suggests someone broke the law. I just went into a resturant expecting to get something to eat, not to listen to a bunch of kids selecting toys.....thats for "Toys for Us", not a restaurant. Besides I raised 4 and they are grown. What's your problem?

LOL I learned today that means laughing out loud.
Neat response.
I really think the guy is suffering from cabin feever being in MN and all. I have noticed several posts he participated in and seems hostile in all of them. Heck, I'm in Texas and I'm suffering from it.

Best,

Mark.
