Help!!! I need information on how to replace the oil seal on the front of the transmission; there's a shaft coming out of the front of the transmission leading to the clutch.. this shaft is split with two sprocks on it, with a chain around it; one of these shafts has to come out in order to get the oil seal on; there should be a way to do this without splitting the tractor. the tractor is a massey harris 44. thanks cletus kipps

If the 44 is anything like the older 101 Seniors, then you'll have to remove the chain off the sprocket, unbolt the engine, and slide it forward, then you can remove the screws holding the casting containing the seal, and slip it off in the space provided by sliding the engine forward. Some of these sprockets come off easy, the one on my Senior took 4 hours of heating and hammering to remove it off the jack shaft.
