Hi,
I purschased a Fordson about 2yrs ago to clear the land where I built my home. The home is complete and I'm doing the landscaping with it presently. This machine runs like a bear -pulls stumps and rocks and has tremendous power and I've become "fond" of it. I want to restore it but am having a hard time finding info. I'd like to know what year it is so that I can hopefully find parts for it. The person that owned it previously bandaged it not repairing. There are all sorts of pans bolted to it( where it leeks). The guy must have cleaned out his wife's pots and pans bolting them to the machine where needed!
My biggest concern is the fluid leeking at the rear of the engine. The oil in the crank is always full - -and I'm pretty sure it's gear oil leeking( perhaps rear main seal). Looking for a manuel to guide me thru. It is a Major Desiel, has a 4 cyl desiel, back hoe and loader attachmen also has a cab.I've looked for a model # but see no #'s on it. There is a tag near the battery wall that says" Made in England. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Stephen

It's been close to twenty years since I've seen a Major close up. Can't remember too much about them. Best thing for you to do is go to a dealership, New Holland or other, and purchase an I&T manual, they will contain most of the info you are looking for. A general farm store can probably get one for you too. From what I read in your post, I would suspect the transmission front seal is leaking. I knew of several many years ago, and they were a rugged tractor.
