What's you guys' opinion on the best way to get ready to paint. I've heard a lot of horror stories about sand finding its way into odd places.

I would never recommend sandblasting the main part of a tractor unless you were going to tear it completly apart afterwards and clean out the sand. I sandblast everything that I can unbolt and take off then use paint remover and a real good pressure washer on the rest wire wheel if needed also.
