do not use as a brake to slow down I've heard stories of people doing this and its good way to take it out, also don't let it free wheel example
if your pulling a heavy load of hay up a hill let the torque out at the top of the hill or just when you hear the engine pick up rpms not when your when going down the the hill
what type of tractor do you have?

Most times on Molines its O.K. to stay in High range, if the low side is just slipping.
Also, the oil in those T/A's has to be warm to work O.K. when they're in good shape.

asked one of the guys if they have ever worked on a 670 super they had it won't hurt anything if you drive it basically its just a bunch of clutches if the low side is out like if you start out in 3rd its going to take a little more to get it going unless you had the torque in if its out on the low side its just the opposite but if both sides are out just plan on putting a new one in you can tell if the torque is out by putting it in 3rd or 4th with the torgue engaged
it should start moving the tractor without no slipping if it does disengage the torque if the tractor acts like you pushed in the clutch and just freerolls or if you have speed up the engine to make it keep going then you'll know which if the highside is out but if the tractor won't move at all it's probably out theres a farmer that he told me about that has one he uses alot in the summer good old tractor its about a 4 bottom plow tractor if anything else let me know

could you find out? My dad said he knows of someone who could probably help out. I'll check with a couple of guys up here who might know they operate a tractor repair shop. We'll do our best!!!

Torque amplifier is an extra two speed transmission mounted between the engine and tractor transmission. With it you can shift the TA down under full power to a slower, but more powerfull gear to get through a tough spot. after clearing the tough spot, you can upshift to direct speed again under full power.
