Steve's popularity has gotten so high that he told us he wanted more money or else!!! So we told him we choose or else and do not let the door hit you on the way out.

Wasn't Steve related to the Thomas that starred in the Waltons show (John-Boy)? I heard they were brothers ro something.

I remember when Bob left and Steve showed up. I missed Bob Villa! After awhile, I began liking Steve, and I started to appreciate him more than I did Bob. Now I haven't seen This Old House in quite a while, but I bet it would take me some time to get used to the new guy.

Where's Steve Thomas?
After 14 years as host of This Old House and contributing to the successful debut of the brand new series, Ask This Old House, Steve has decided to explore other opportunities and challenges. Steve is pursuing creative opportunities that will enable him to do more in front of and behind the camera. Although we're sorry to see Steve go, we're excited for him and wish him well. His departure is completely voluntary. Steve has decided that he wants to apply his considerable skills and talents to a new chapter in his life.

You won't see me at Sears, period; not as long as Bob Vila is pushing their stuff. He irritates me no end....irrational, I suppose, but irrational can be good. If I'm flipping through the channels (HGTV, TLC, Discovery, etc) and happen to see him, I can feel my blood pressure spike..... ...

Thurlow, I'm surprised that you would admit that you put the control of your blood pressure into the hands of Bob Villa. Thats putting a lot of authority into someone elses control. Bob Villa isnt going to make me buy anything from Sears nor is he going to prevent it.

He was replaced last year by the new guy, sorry I don't remember his name, but I remember seeing the episode where he made his debut. He was a person who wrote into the show Ask this Old House with a problem and apparently one thing led to another.

The new guy is Kevin O'connor. He sure seems likeable enough.

I, too, liked Steve.

I never did care for Bob Villa. He never really listened to anything people were saying to him. Why ask something if you aren't going to listen to the response?

I just wish This Old House would do some common homes on occassion. They spend more on refurbishing a kitchen than many of us would spend on a new home.
