I am going to be working on a 384 engine, owner complains of a great amount of antifreeze loss, getting pressure in the radiator, any common problems with these engines that I should look for??

Could very well be head gasket, if not, could be cracked sleave. One way to check for crack is to take emory cloth and go around top of sleave in the area of the piston ring ridge. Crack usually runs horizontally around the top. That was a very common problem with the old Nuffield tractors which Leyland bought.

These tractors are getting old. If this engine has never been redone before, I would take the oil pan out to see if the sleeve's seal ring is leaking. This engine has wet sleeve, so it could be the source of antifreeze in the oil.
I overhauled my 384 last fall wich had one of these symptoms.
