Looking at a Russian made Belarus 520A diesel 4-wheel drive with a loader and a big 3-point on the back, good rubber all around and runs well and seems complete. Price is right but should a guy get into something like this? Tractor is here in Canada and I have no idea as to who handles parts, etc. It is a late 70's model I believe. Anybody out there with any opinions.

my neighbor had a used 520 for 10 years..used it in the woods + every where else..ran it with no air breather cap[ always full of snow + leaves ] the muffler was barely there ,the hydrolic system was milky white with water, the water pump + rad were shot + usually empty + coat hangers were the repair of choice..he purchased his rear tires at the landfill for 2 bucks each...believe it or not it was pretty good in snow...no chains..i sold him my 65 hp 572 which is newer but pretty much the same..i still have a 572 + its great..cheap..dependable..lots of new + used parts aviable + easy to repair..however i purchased a valtra 700 to replace the one i sold him..but seriously considered another belarus.

here in dairy country there is nothing harder on equip than amish hired help. quite a few of those ugly crude orange things and they keep running, you won't get 10,000 hours but you're not paying deere prices, use it till it breaks, wire it back together and it certanly won't hurt the resale value

Is the one he is looking at for SALE or is it free.

If they are free does it come with free delivery too?

We had one, they are the WORST tractor ever put on four wheels. When the clutch went out the second time in the first 400 hours on the tractor we made it go away. The only reason we got it was they were free if you put up a new shed. We got parts from someplace in Wisconson

Depends on how long you plan to keep it.Probably a good 1 or 2 year tractor.Limited resale and ouch on replacement parts.

Why not buy an American made tractor ? Those forein countries are putting the screws to us enough already . When all jobs are gone from America , remember how you supported it . That's how I feel about Belarus .

That reminds me of a joke they used to tell over here in England. Up to recently, they used to sell Lada (Awful, Russian built things) cars over here.
Q. What is the difference between a Jehovah's Witness and a Lada?
A. You can close the door on a Jehovah's Witness!

Well thats offended all the Jehovah's Witnesses and all three of the Lada fanatics.

There are many Belarus dealers in N.A. Use your computer as you did asking this question and the issue will be resolved.

Don't know if you should buy or not. One sold today at auction for 5,900. Not sure the year or model it was 85 h.p. 1,800 hrs front wheel assist, cab with heat and air, and loader.
