Living up here in the mountains of NH, I don't have many opportunities to go to auctions where there are old tractors for sale, especially in the numbers that some of you see on a regular basis. If the truth was known, I'm Flambeau Red or even Farmall Red (not green) with envy of lots of you fellers. Therefore, if you could humor this old sidehill Yankee by posting results of sales that you go to, I would be most appreciative. Then I can live vicariously through your experience.

Guys, check out www.wiemanauction.com. They are located in Southeastern SD and have regular consignment sales. Usually run 2 rings and have buyers from all over the US, Mexico and Canada attend. They have a sale comming up again March 3. They are advertising 150 tractors, 40 combines, and antique tractors and misc. machinery. 1350 pieces of equipment altogether. They run one of the best sales in this area and keep things moving. Good people to deal with.

Hey Les,
Where abouts are you at in NH? I spent from Feb '86 to May '88 at Pease AFB. Back in the days of the FB-111A. I really enjoyed the time that I spent there. In fact if the base was still open I would be fighting to go back. Some of the best hunting and fishing I have ever done. I also enjoyed the skiing there in NH and in Maine. Spent more than one saturday up on Sunday River. Now 15 years later, I am at Cannon AFB, New Mexico (for the second time) working with the F-16's. When I was here the first time is when they retired the F-111E's and F-111F's. And the EF-111A's were retired shortly after I left in Dec -97 on my way to Lakenheath England. Seems to me I remember seeing a few older Farmalls and John Deeres being used around Portsmouth and Maine. LOL, never forget driving to and from Logan Airport one time in one of the worst snow storms that they ever had in that area back in Dec 87 / Jan 88 (well that's what they said anyway on the news) many people gave me a hard time about "what's a Texan doing driving in this kind of weather."

later days mate,
Jim

I live near Woodstock. Loon, Waterville, Cannon Mt and Tenney Mt ski areas are all within 20 miles of me. Just off I-93, right in the middle of the state.
I was on active duty with the NH Army National Guard from '83 to '88. I used to go to Pease for dental work. They sure treated us good, especially compared to Fort Devens. One visit there convinced me that I'd rather pay for the dental work myself than have that place do it. Pease was a breath of fresh air. Used to go to the commissary there and get a haircut whenever I was in the area (not too often).
It's no longer an AFB as you may know. The Air Guard is still there but they're trying to redevelop the place. They call it the Pease International Trade Port now. Quite a few airliners fly outta there. Lots of cargo from what I've been told.
I'm about 100 miles northwest of Pease. Come on back for a visit anytime. We like visitors.

HI Les,
Just went to a sale today, there was a restored Oliver super 88 (I got 12 Olivers)sold for $3750.00. Too much $! I did buy a J.D. 4420 combine in immaculate condition with both heads (1710 hrs) and a J.D. 8000 series 10' drill, also immaculate condition, and a J.D. 10t running gear with a used up rack. Spent $20.00 short of $13K.

Saw a 600 Ford (looked like new) sell for $3800 today in Nutbush, TN; hometown of Anna Mae Bullock (Tina Turner). Not really a town; not even a wide spot in the road..... ..

Look on the John Deere board down a few pages. I posted the results from a central Missouri auction for some 2-cylinders on Jan 31. Enjoy, Mike

Some of that looks pretty reasonable. Bet that Super C, 40 and 8Ns wouldda brought a lot more than that around here. Specially the 8Ns.

Having worked on the Littleton, NH Dam project in 1954 and lived in New England til I got smart, I can safely say there are more old tractors "sitting' in or under old barns and sheds up there than there are down here in Georgia. My dad reserected an old '30 McCormack Deering and used it to plow snow and saw stove wood (was too slow for anything else).
I'd suggest trying WWW.agr.state.ga.us/mbindex.html for our Farmers and market bulletin, then select either farm machinery or Farm supplies. This is published every two weeks, so have fun.

Hey, Ken. Littleton is about 30 miles NW of me. I'm down below the Notch.
You're right, there are a lot of hidden jewels here in New England. But it's a rare thing to stumble onto one. Timing, as they say, is everything.
Too bad you left New England. But it does leave more room for the rest of us. Like I've always said, our climate definitely does help to keep the riff raff out.

Let's take this idea one step further...

I wonder if the "powers that be" for YT would set up a separate area to post auction results. They could set it up similar to the photos page, so you can search it out by brand.

Just my .02 worth...
