Last evening I spent the evening pulling sleeves out of a engine block and didn't watch the game. From all the talk about the halftime show, I'd didn't miss much.

Now I don't feel strange feeling the way I do about football and NASCAR. Being from NC, about 8 miles from the Lowes Speedway I'm right in the heart of racing country, so everybody around here is supposed to like NASCAR, and every guy is supposed to love football. Like many of the posts I used to enjoy both, but when they became more business than sport it took all the enjoyment out of it for me. I still didn't spend the day in the shop though, I spent most of it playing games on PS2 and having a great time with my little boy. As for the shop entertainment systems some of you guys need to get on with the upgrades. Mines a 20x40 downstairs with a 17x40 room upstaires that I've almost got finished. I've got a 'frig, microwave, TV, a stereo with turntable, 8track, cassette deck, and a AM/FM radio. I'm working on getting the plumbing in bathroom for the toilet, and I made it big enough to put eventually put a shower in. I've got the ultimate doghouse.....

When you get past the local or college level sports now it sucks. There is a group of people who are over paid, think they are above the law(most are),and still want more. If everybody felt the way I do there would be no super bowl. Now NASCAR is going the same route. Here in NC they are shutting down the race tracks where it began and moving to the larger cities where more money is. The rumor in Andy Griffit's home town is that he went to Bible college to stay out of the war. As soon as the war(WWII) was over he went to California to become a actor. There is a bunch of idiots in Mt Airy, NC who wanted to change the town name to Mayberry. I live in NC and I am glad the Carolina panthers lost.My .02

I don't think I've watched a pro football game in 20 years. Used to love the NFL, but the days of real men such as Unitas and Tarkenton are long gone. The only football I watch is the high school playoffs and championship games every December which are aired on public TV in Georgia. Some of our local teams get in the playoffs each year, and it's great watching the local kids playing their tails off for nothing but school pride. No multi-million dollar contracts and diamond earrings. The communities really get into the excitement. I've even put tractor projects aside to watch the games.

Seems to me that if they'd give each one of those guys a ball they wouldn't have to all fight over that one that's out there.

Did you ever hear Andy Griffith's "What it was, was football"? Up 'til that point in time (can't remember, probably mid-late '50s) , absolutely funniest routine ever (still in the top ten)

I HAD TO WORK!!!!! !

With that said I would not have watched the game even if I was watching the TV at the time it was on. But with all the hoopla about the half time show I mighta watched that.

Now had it been the World Series and I was watching TV any way... Yes I would have checked that out.

Could someone please tell me? What is a superbowl? Does it have something to do with a carburetor?
Thanks, Joe

Boy, Now I'm really confused!!! What's a "ETD"? Is it something to do with a portable toilet? Anyway that's my breast guess. Joe

My brother came up yesterday to help get a tractor ready for an auction; he was telling me that the Super Bowl was last night; he couldn't remember who was playing; knew one team was the Yankees, but wasn't sure whether it was the Bulls or Rangers they were playing..... .

Watch a bunch of overpaid, overweight sweaty guys in tights roll around on the ground and slap each others butts OR spend quality time with a historical piece that I restored myself- Hmmmmm, let me think!

Well I might be a bit abnormal, but I would rather work on a tractor any day than watch a football game. I was also working on the wiring of my tractor during the game.

You should have pulled the sleeves on saturday like we did, then watched the game on Sunday.
I like working on old tractors but I like the NFL too; you can work on tractors anytime but the Super Bowl only comes once a year. And it was one of the best ever....

What? There was a game on yesterday? Why would anyone waste their time watching TV when they could be working on old iron?

Idont know about wasting time watching tv.For those of us who have RFDTV there was a great alternative to the Super Bowl on between 9 and 10!I gave up on the NFL long ago as well as most other sports, too much money got involved and the spirit of the game was lost, now I feel the only sprt left for me,Nascar,is heading that way as well!Cubber!

You mean to tell me you guys don`t have a tv in your shop? Heck I have tv, stereo and a refrigerator in mine. My wife says I ought to move out there since I spend more time out here then in the house. I was sanding and painting my little fergy and watching the game at the same time. RT
