Customer brought in his NH skid loader yesterday and said the hydros and hydraulics quit. We checked it out and the fluid was milky and the filters were plugged with a green goo.The pumps and motors are scored and are junk. When we talked to the customer about it, he said the hydraulics were freezing up and he didn't want to spend the money to change the fluid and filters so he added 3 gallons of antifreeze. So the $200. oil and filter change just turned into a $4000+. repair.

Right after high school I worked evening in a gas station. I was working on my own car bleeding the brakes. The brake fluid was in a big gallon can, to big and clumsy of jug I thought to pour into the master cylander, so I looked around for something smaller to use to put the brake fluid in. Well there were lots of empty coke-cola cans in the trash barrel! Need I say more. Thank goodness I didn't take to big of a gulp.

This obviously wasn't an accident as the person obviously thought it would work !!which brings me to my point!!a'hem (if you don't have a clue what you're doing then don't do it.) This person should be told that there is really no excuse for stupidity in a case like this

Yeah I thought it was gonna be about Bush too, About a year ago my old lady managed to fill up her car at the kerosene pump. I have no idea how, weve used the same station for like 12 years or so, like at most stations the Kerosene pump is nowhere near the gas pump. I never could figure it out, the car was never the same. Needless to say she doesnt drive my truck much.

Dad once told me a story of how Pap used to store calcium chloride in a gas can in the garage next to the tractor and the car. It seems that my aunt grabbed the can and put it in the car since she was in a hurry and didn't want to take the time to go to the barn to get the gas from the barrel. In case you are wondering the life expectancy of an engine running on calcium chloride is about a 1/4 mile. Dad said Pap tore that engine apart a couple of times and it never was right after that.

I use to store left over round-up in gallon rotella jugs.Figured no one would drink it there.Well I had an old 1 ton that used oil and I accidently pured about a quart or so in there to top it off. Well life expectance of a motor with round-up in it is about 24 miles. That senior moment when your sitting on the side of the road in a blowed up truck and realize what you did,OH IT'S PRICELESS.

Whew, I'm sure glad your post was about tractors. For a minute there after reading your post title, I thought you were maybe talking about our esteemed leader George Bush.

Is this really the new governor of CA. or just someone fooling around.

If it truly is you, I am flabbergasted that you are monitoring this site. What's your farm connection if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks

Mark

When I was a kid, most tractors were set up with the radiator up front and the fuel tank just in front of the steering wheel; when this changed with the New Generation John Deeres (and others), it wasn't at all unusual to have some employee fill the radiator (now the second filler cap, instead of the first) with fuel.....

Many years ago, i drove one of those little Renault rear engine cars. The fuel filler tank was under the engine cover, on the right rear corner of the car. The radiator cap was at the front of the engine, about in the middle of the opening. I stopped for gas one night, and just in time i caught the attendant ready to put gas in the radiator! What a mess that would have made, eh! Oh, yes, folks ragged me about that car, but it was like a mountain goat on hilly, snow covered mountain roads--never needed tire chains, just Michelin X tires!
