I am looking for a compact something like a used JD 4115 with hyd bucket and mower, or a Kubota or anything with a decent warranty, not a yanmar or a chinese tractor-fu-yung. Seems the resale value stays pretty high even for abused equipment. Any bargains out there?

The red Nortracs from Northern Tool are Jinma chinese tractors. 6 month warranty corresponds with the expected time it will take to break it. (That was mean, sorry)

A grey market Yanmar is a tough tractor, but please dont think you are getting a Deere at 1/2 price. The reason for the Deere markup is the resale value, parts avail and service support. Break a spindle on a yanmar and you will know what I mean....you can probably find the used part, somewhere - wait and pay big bucks for shipping etc, and then you are on your own for the repair. Also remember that the grey market yanmars we see for sale are 20-30 yrs old....gear driven, non-live PTO, no power steering, etc. Not really comparable to a new Deere with E-Hydro and a cupoholder :)

Check these packages out; they say they've been in business for 25 years and have parts.

Has anyone heard anything about the little red tractors sold by Northern tool and hydraulics? Who makes those? why only a six month warranty?

If John Deere is so smart why did'nt they put a shuttle shift on thier "50" series tractors from the late 80's, when they had shuttles on their crawlers in the 50's and 60's??? Some of the Yannies (336D) at least have a shuttle shift. Your mileage may vary.

I'd like to throw in some support for those Yanmars, too. I have a JD950 with a 3 cyl. Yanmar diesel and it works great. So good, in fact, that I am thinking of another tractor straight from the far east to save the bucks. Like the other guy said, why pay for a name when you're getting the same thing. I like to support home-grown, but it is not only hard to find, it is also hard to part with my hard earned money just for a name.

your JD are made over seas just because there green don't make them gold and it's more then likely made by yanman and for sure has a yanman motor. so why pay 4000 more for a copy?

Have you considered new?. I think any used machine will be high, and I see JD has very good financing offers on new stuff, and possibly their competitors have good deals also.
Hope this helps

Go to a local dealer and tell them you need a cheap loader with belly mower. A lot of times they will have stuff from the 60s-70s that they can't get rid of.

For example, a JD dealer might have a good old white or case that will do you good and they can't sell 'cause people go there for JDs.

Act poor.

Also, JDs have yanmar engines.
