Hello, I came across this website with a very large Big Bud tractor. The website claims it was the largest Ag tractor built, but I'm wondering if they meant the biggest one Big Bud built or if it's the biggest AG tractor in the world?.
thanks in advance

Like some of the other posts, I think the Versitile was the biggest I have heard of. Of course it wasn't actually sold. There were Big Buds sold and used. Can't find an info but some where I remember seeing stories about some really huge 2 wheel drive tractors built and sold in Australia. Does anyone remember anything about them?

The Versatile IS NOT tbigger than the 747. The Versatile Big Roy used a Cummins KTA 1150 engine putting out 600 hp. The Big Bud 747 uses a Detroit Diesel 16V92T putting out originally 760 hp that was opened up to 900 hp in California.

Have you ever seen a Tri-Directional?. I can't recall who made it but I heard its power could change the weather.

Take Care

The Williams brothers stated they could disk 60 acres an hour so if my math is correct comes to an acre a minute.

don't know the horsepower of that bigbud, but woods & copeland made some very big 4wds back in the 70's also, believe from 500 to over 1000 hp.

When the tractor was rebuilt by the Williams Bros. in 1998 they increased the horsepower to 900. I understand it was tried with the engine set at 1100 hp but they would spin the tires on the rims.

Farming. They use the tractor for working ahead of the drills. They use 2 other tractors each pulling a setup of JD drills I think 50ft wide. I have been to their farm and seen the tractor and the 80ft Flexi Coil chisel plow. The tractor plays with the plow. They said when the drills start catching up to the Big Bud, they just bump it up a gear. Without the 747, they would have to hire another man and run 2 normal tractors instead of just one.

Sonewhere around here I have a calender with the tractor on it. I remember a little about it, it carries 3,000 gallons of diesl fuel, and has been modified for more HP. It pulls an 80ft. disc. I forget fuel consumption rate. I'll try to find the calender and repost the article.

How does the operator keep the cultivator from overlapping or missing a strip of earth? Way out there 40 feet away and back in a dust cloud?

they have a seat on each end of the cultivator for you and your wife and you each get a 2 way radio to call the operator which way to go, were a coat and some good dust goggles good luck and don't fall asleep

She don't need the radio. Her voice alone would cut right through the tractor and cultivator noise into the cab to the poor smuck driving.
