Gentelman, I appreciate very much your true tales of adventure, re: mukking up your tractors and getting stuck. I have gleaned much from your wisdom.
LESSON LEARNED: get stuck with mukk (To barrow a phrase from the Marines) Adapt and improvize, get the tractor out of the muckked up mess, and if your all muddy and had fun doing it. Then thats iccing on the cake. Safe Journeys To All! H Terry Duck

Hey Shep, Seems to me I saw a photo of that Ollie of yours stuck. Deep too as I recall. Last April I hung my Case 450 while pushing over an oak. Clearing property lines that had been grown over for decades. Cut on the low side of the stump. Opened up a nice hole. Opened a spring. No mistaking the feel of a track churning up water. I cut it off right away. Crawler is still there, but mostly dug out, by hand. Spent lots of time getting it cleaned up. Got it jacked up and on timbers. Won't start. Solving that puzzle now. Poured burnt oil/diesel mix on the tracks to keep them loose. Neighbor said to just fill it back in and put up a R.I.P. stone. mudstuck

When I was in the Marines we had a system for getting tracked vehicles unstuck worked like a charm. These Amtracs were 40 tons so when they got stuck there you were. We hooked big 1" tow cables to the tracks anchored the other end to a large tree or another Amtrac, put the tractor in reverse and let it wind the cable up around the tracks. Walked it right out every time.
