My neighbor has a 1978? allis 7045 for sale. It is a clean unit with good rubber and about 6400 hours. Any weaknesses with this series or tractor that I should be aware of. Is it a reliable series or should I just stick with red or green ? Thanks for your input.

Does it have the 426 engine? I have seen a bunch of Allises with this engine in the dealer's shop with a rod through the side of the block. Most of them went out when the tractor was not even being worked hard. Has anyone else seen this?

I hope you own an oil well because they are notorious fuel guzzlers. Other than that they were not bad.

We have a 7045 but the tranny is goofed up in it. Not sure if that is common or not. It was a decent tractor if you can get past the small cab and the fact that if you push the "clutch" all the way down it engages some sort of tranny brake... maybe that is what cause the tranny problem with ours (let grandpa drive it too much!). I do like the full powershift setup. Can't tell you much other than that, ours has set for several years since it will cost 3 times as much to fix it as the darned thing is worth.
