I have owned a 444 Diesel for 15 years and they are tuff little tractors. Mine is a British version so holding true to its heritage, it leaked a little fluid from a rear axle and I have had a few electrical problems. I replaced the axle seal and replaced the generator with the least expensive (approx $30) alternator (with a built in regulator) I could find. Excellent engine and good hydraulics. I highly recommend the tractor for light to medium utility work and you would need front weights to handle 1200 pound round bales of hay. Good luck.

I have a 354 british with the Lucas electrics, they are the only drawback to this machine. If they go bad big bucks. My starter solaniod went south, priced at$68.00 from a dealer, put a ford one back on for 6.95. Starters are very spendy also.

I have a US 444 and am well pleased with it. There are american and British versions. The British ones have Lucas electronics and the SN begins with a B. Most parts are still available thru Case/IH.

Some parts for gas engine are little hard to come by but other than that they are a good little tractor. Parts from the bellhousing back are also available from a Mahindra dealer.
