I am thinking of purchasing a used Ford 641 tractor from a friend of the family. I only want to use it to shred and possibly move a bale of hay now and then. I was just wanting some feedback on what anyone has to say about that tractor. As far as I can tell the tractor is in good shape. The man is asking $3,450.00. Is that about right for that tractor? Any feedback would be appreciated?

Chance, E-mail me, as I have a very original Ford 600 series diesel, PS, Ind. axel, and Ford step-in loader w/ wide bucket. Thanks, Jim.

Price sounds about right though the "going rate" may vary some around different parts of the country. Have had mine for a little over a year now, after using an 8N for around 15 yrs. I'm happy with it. Pretty easy to work on & parts (and advice on the Ford Board) are in pretty good supply. As someone else suggested, though, you'd be wise to put an over-running clutch (ORC) on it if you're going to be using a shredder. Lots safer.

BTW, the link below shows mine when I got it and then after refurbishing it.

I have a 641 that my dad bought new and it is a good tractor. They are like all older tractors you need to keep them tuned up and in good running order and they will perform satisfactory and a joy to operrate.
The price seems reasonbly and depends on what you want to pay. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Excellent little tractor. If it has power steering, it is even better. If you use it for bush hogging, get an over running clutch on the pto. Price depends on your area somewhat. I wouldn't take 5000.00 for mine.

They sold new for around $2200 in 1958. Dad bought one then and it was a good tractor for us.
