Hi All. I posted a message a while ago asking for advice for a novel that I'm working on (in which one of the characters is restoring an antique tractor and outfitting it with a biodiesel engine...etc). You guys were wonderful; thanks for the tips.

I've decided to go with a Deutz MTZ222 semi-diesel (or a model close to that) from 1927 or 1928. I've found a few examples on the net. But I have two other questions that I'm hoping some of you can help me with.

1. Do you have any idea where I can find a manuel for a Deutz that old? I'm happy to pay for it (though within reason of course).

2. Can you recommend a basic and over-all book on tractor repair? One that will give me a diagram and just teach me the names of all the parts...etc?

Thanks, as always, for your help. It's invaluable.

- Josh

John Deere publishing has an excellent series of books in soft cover that 'Fundamentals of Service' that cover all the basic engine and tractor parts and components. Lots of schools use them for ag mechanics classes.
