I'm looking for a golf cart to take along to the pulls and shows this summer. From what I've heard gas ones are better, but electrics are cheaper. Any advice or opinions would help. I dont want anything nice or fancy, just a good running beater to haul the beer cooler.

I've put some lift kits in various models...but the EZ-GO is the easiest to do...you can fab it with a drill press and welder and standard iron...put some bigger wheels and tires on it and have better ground clearance and a little more speed...the Robin engine has enough power for that...looks neat too. I've got 84 of 'em. Well, they're not all mine, but I take care of 'em. I run the maintenance dept at a big country club. Ive got 78 Club Car electric, and 6 Club Car "Carry-All" gas carts. For what you're wanting, the gasser would be the best. Electric carts need to be used as often as possible. The batteries are deep cell, like marine batteries. They don't need to stay on a charger all the time. They will develope a "false bottom" where they don't charge all the way, and won't DIS-charge all the way. Then you'll need to replace the batteries every 3 years or so. That get's costly. Mine have 8 batteries per cart, @ $55 a batterey. My gas carts are real work-horses. They have a 7-1/2 gallon gas tank that I fill maybe 3 times a year, with quite a bit of use. The Carry-All will handle an 800lb payload. I even have one (MINE!) with a full cab, heat, radio, lights and windshield wipers. If you're in the Louisville Ky area, drop me an e-mail, and I'll hook you up with a guy that handles used Club Car's. They range in price from a few hundred buck's (well) used, to $7500 new. Hope this helps. John

Indy,
Have you had any experience with other golf cart brands or just Club? I think I would like a gas cart as a chore cart on my small beef farm (36 acres on one side of the road and 30 acres on the other), but a friend suggests an older 4 wheeler. Now I am not a hunter like he is and I am 50 years old so I don't expect to go mudding with the boys or plan to go hunting on a 5,000 acre plantation. I just want something easy on and off to check a mile of so of fence in pasture sod or woodland. May try to pull a small trailer from time to time with some materials or fencing tools. Your previous comments about the gas carts leads to me think that a gas cart would fit my needs better than electric. Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I've had one for years, both gas and elestric. I will only have a gas model now after having had both. They are as handy as a thumb, I pull trailers, drag brush, wife uses it for the yard work, and is great for "quality time" with my 3 year old grandaughter

You would probably be better off with a gasser. They are considerably lighter than their electrical counterparts, less things to go wrong, and you won't be hunting a place to plug it in if the batteries get low at a show. We have an ez-go gas utility model with the bed in the back. Once you have one I'm sure you will find 1001 other uses for it besides riding around shows. My wife prefers it to her Gator for yard work, running out to the mailbox, and hauling hay to her horses. We put a set of tractor tread tires on the rear and it will go just about anywhere.5. gallons of gas will last her about a month They can be found on E-BAY,Golf courses,or Cart dealers.Utility models sell for around $1000+/-depending on condition.

Don't know where you are located, but I see them all over the place around here for sale. Central Ohio area. Check with golf courses in your area, they can probably put you in touch with a dealer or refurbisher.
There's one for sale just about 2 miles from me. Setting in a guy's front yard.
