Hello everyone,

This is my first post and I am learning a lot from this board. You have to love the internet as I also belong to a board for my Ford Powerstroke diesel and one for snow plowing.

I just picked up a 1994 7753 bobcat. I am handy but have many questions about the work I need to do on it. First am I in the right forum?

OK assuming that I am let me start of small. I plan to get a manual most likely from this web site to help me work through everything. A few "starting" questions:

Where does everyone get good prices for parts and filters?

My bobcat creaps BAD how do I adjust it so it is not accross the yard everytime I leave it alone for 30 seconds?

Is the 7753 the same as the 753? See a lot of info in the 753 but mine has 7753 writen down the side and there is not many hits on the net for a 7753.

Big one: The upper right hand corner there is a display screen for all the guage read outs etc. This is completely black. It beeps at me etc (on start up and when running I am guessing something is low) but can nto read anything on it. Is this fixable? It looks like it is riveted to the post, how does it come out??

Thanks I hope to read a bunch of info from you guys soon... :-)

Jon,
I bought a used 763 this summer and found these things are real workhorses. I bought mine from a rental shop and this can be good and bad. But, everything did work like it should, especially safety functions. Do it a favor and replace all of the fluids and filters if you have not already. I did and found that the local Bobcat dealer is cheaper than NAPA for all filters and fluids, and that includes hydraulic oil. Surprise.
I also bought a manual from dealer. I think it was $69. Money well spent. There is a guy on ebay that regularly advertises manuals for $59 starting. I frankly do not know how he ever sells one if a brand new one can be had for 10 more..
I personally would not operate the machine without the gauges working, and having confidence in what you see. These engines are very tough, but also very expensive to replace. Your call.
I can not help with creeping, but I am sure the manual goes through the needed adjustment, with pictures I might add.
Have fun and be careful. Word to the wise, these things are no good on hills. Be careful. They become very unstable with the bucket up going up even a moderate grade. Experiment with it to learn the ropes. Just be sure you know how to drop that loader fast when you need to.
Also do it a favor and clean out the pan. Mine had enough dirt in it to fill the bucket. Good counterweight, but not good for the components.

I don't have a Bobcat loader, but do have a "Dig-It" btand loader/backhoe combination unit with a hydrostatic drive, and when it creeps like that, what I have to do is to adjust the pedal linkage till it returns to neutral position, in my case It was the one from the pedal to the roller cam. This not only very dangerous, it robs you of a small amount of efficency, as it is using extra fuel, and generating heat which helps to shorten the life of the hydrostatic transmission, annd they are somewhat expensive to repair, and I'll bet it would be mean to work on a transmission in such a compact machine, probably meaner than a forklift. The 7753 is a good machine definitely more lift capacity than a 753. We have both and use them for masonry work and around the farm. The 7753 is called a vertical lift path machine, meaning the bucket moves in a vertical path as opposed to an arc like other Bobcats. The 7753s also came with a 66 inch bucket where the 753s and 740 series came with 60 inch buckets. All of this adds up to a machine that is better for loading trucks and moving lots of material but is not quite as handy in tight quarters. For parts and manuals we go to the local Bobcat dealer usually stock up on filters once a year with 10% discount. Even though the engines are both Kubotas I found out last year that not all filters are interchangable, good reason to favor local dealer. As for creep I believe it is an adjustment to the control valves or linkages. Have never adjusted it myself though. The box on the cab post is known as the BOSS system. Bobcat introduced this on the 7753 as a self diganostic. My experience is the sensors cause more problems than actual mechanical problems with the machine. I think I have replaced the water level sensor 3 or 4 times in 10 years. The screen however does also show fuel level, oil pressure, engine temp, and charge. It would be a good idea to get the screen fixed but don't know what the cost might be or if it can be bypassed with regular guages. Overall a very strong and durable machine with yearly maintenance. Email me if you have more questions.

Mac:

Thanks that does help a lot!!! I bought it for snow plowing and maybe renting it out with myself on weekend for cash. I own a property managemnt company and this was a smart move as some day we might start rehabbing buildings.

The bigger bucket and lift sounds just like what I need to work, plow, and maybe expand the business with.

Thanks for everyone's replies. Does anyone recommend a certain manual for these? I want to work on it myself and will try and figure out where the drive linkage is this weekend. This replacement of the BOSS monitor sounds expensive, anyone have a better idea they just straight replacement?

Jon,
There is an adjustment for "neutral". Sorry, I can't tell you how. I've never done it.
I want to say tip the cab back to get access to the linkage and adjust from there. I'm assuming that it's pretty much the same as the 542B we had. Parts we always got from the local Bobcat dealer.

The 7753 Bobcat is a 753 but with a longer wheel base and a higher lift. It was replaced by the 773. we had one that liked to creep but we always just set the parking brake.

Thanks now I figured out what a 7753 is... As for parking brake it does not work and needs to be fixed as well if anyone has a hint on that....

Jon, about creeping Bobcat, do you mean you get out of it when it is running ? I always shut mine off before getting out. Too easy to step on a pedal, & safety features (Lock Outs) can fail. I know frequent starts are hard on battery & starter, but I feel it is cheap insurance against accidents. There are some Dept. of Labor sites that describe skid steer & tractor accidents, they can be gory, but they do make you think about what can happen.

Davis:

Yes I am talking about how it moves when the drive sticks are not being touched. It is not only bad as I can not get out when it is running, but even when I am inside I can never just idle and wait for someone/something to move out of my way etc.

When the motor is running it is constantly moving a bit so it is to hard to even sit there and just wait. My probelm is there is no "neutral/park" and it needs adjustment.

Thanks for the tip I appreciate it. No matter what this problem needs to be fixed for safety when I am in the cab or outside the cab....
