Howdy ya'll, Ive got a 79 dodge powerwagon 150 with a 360ci engine, and i am in the process of making it into a off road tube-chassiss truck. well, i went to fire it up after stripping the body, and i have no fire. What i need to know is how the "brain box" and coil needs to be wired up. If you need more info just leave a message with the info you need.
thank you
doug

Here's simplified diagram on this website. Top one is the 5 pin module. 4 pin is the same except does not use one wire.

Do you have 4 or 5 pin connector on the ignition module? Do you want to know what each one is connected to?

It has the 5 wire plug, and i just need to know what the green and red wire off the module need to connect to. i am almost dead positive the red is power, i am just clueless about the green.

All my books are for the replacement module which is a 4 pin. This is a direct replacement for the 5 pin. The red wire is 12 volt input. The green wire and the white wire are in a connector that plugs into the distributor. GREEN hooks to PLUS pick-up coil and WHITE hooks to the MINUS pick-up coil. Be advised that some wire colors are changed by the factory and I cannot be absolutely positive with this information. Hope this is what you need.

I don't have a 79 service manual but I have an 80 and a 78. The 78 shows a 5 pin box and the 80 shows a six pin box but only 5 pins being used. The 80 dosen't use a green wire but the 78 does so I will use it.
dark green wire-goes to the ballast resistor.
black wire with yellow tracer-negative side of coil.
gray wire and brown with white tracer wire-goes to distributor.
Red wire-this ties in with a bunch of wires which is your power. It also ties in with the other side of your ballast resistor, voltage regulator, field side of your alternator, and egr timer or speed switch.

Hope this makes sense!
