I have an Allis 160 with a Perkins diesel. After it has sat for a while (couple weeks/months) it smokes a lot out the breather and exhaust. It will clear up some after she warms up. I suspect the oil control rings are sticking. Anybody have suggestions on how to cure this problem? TIA,Chris

Chris,

I agree with 'another chris'. I think that tractor needs to be put to work. Should clear it right up.

I have this problem with some of mine after they set for a while. Mine are all gas but I take them out and pull the guts out of them and it usually clears up. Sometimes it take a little Seafoam in the crankcase. It will free up engine parts and you can really tell the difference.

you might try using a heavier weight oil or an oil additive. also the problem could be leaking valve stem seals. if it keeps on smoking after trying the heavier oil, the then only real cure is to go into the engine and overhaul it.
