Anyone know if a 3 pt kit was ever available for a Massey Harris 44, and if so, where I could get one? One I'm looking at buying has only a drawbar but there is a splined shaft sticking out of the top left side of the differential and I was told that was for an equipment lift. True? How hard is it to do a brake job on a 44?

Thanks,
Jack

The splined shaft is a gear drive, active only when the PTO is engaged. The purpose being to lift
a mounted cultivator on '47-'49 44's. Without central hydraulics, you are probably better off
'passing' on this early 44, since you want 3 pt.
hitch. By 1954, MH had Hitch-All, on the 44 Special row crop models. This was a durable Cat.II
3 point hitch;earlier attempts were weak junque.
Identify Hitch-All by the lift shaft being located
above the PTO. Avoid wasting money on anything
but Hitch-All, if you plan to work it. Good luck.
