Has anyone ever heard of a Snap'n Turtle tree or stump puller that mounts on a 3PH? It was made in Texas by Caldwell Mfg, who is no longer in business.

A stump puller takes a tremendous amount of tractor to be able to pull it straight up out of the ground. You got enough machine?

Walter Please be carefull about pulling stumps with anything attached to your 3 point hitch. I met a guy in an ER a few years ago that was lucky to still be here. His 8 N went over on top of him doing the same thing.

I bought a used stump grinder that mounts on the tractor and have found it much faster and also easier on my tractor clutch. IT does not leave a stump hole.

Even been asked to do some for the folks around the area for cash. Guess a guy could make a few bucks with one. If he had the time.

Good Luck

Cliff

Where did you get your stump grinder for your 3 pt hitch? How much was it? have you made any side money with it grinding? A guy around here charges $1.00 per square inch of stump.

Cliff, Thanks for your comments. The 3 point lift only serves to tighten the jaws. The stump pulling would be a function of tractor forward motion, not lift. The device would pull low enough that it would be below the centerline of the rear axle, so I won't be lifting the tractor front end.

If you mean it was made in Caldwell Texas, I live
close to Caldwell and I could ask around. If so
do you know when it would have been made ?

The caldwell was the name of the company. It was E.L. Caldwell & Sons from Corpus Christi, Texas. The company was sold at a bankruptcy auction in 1985 to several different buyers.

Tony, I'm not sure how old it is, but it's not an antique. I think the company went out of business not that long ago. Any help would be great.
