Any pointers on how to get the head off a JD B? Tried rubber mallet, longer pry bars, WD40, 2 cans, small torch, comealong on water pipe studs. Head will slide about 1 inch forward.

My 42 B has a cast piece between the frame rails just infront of the head, had to remove the head bolts, to get it all the way off. The cast cross piece prevented it from sliding all the way off the head studs. John in Nebr.

Try running a tap down the stud threads to remove any burrs and lead washer residue.

Be sure you have all the rust cleaned off the studs then oil them good, and all the trash & crud off the frame rails. Gene

Is this a cyclone B??? If so , you have to remove the frame to get the head off.

We always took the late model (pressed steel frame)"B" heads out the bottom between the rails.
