I hope someone can help with this problem I have run into on a UTB 445.

When under load with the 4 wheel drive engaged the drive shaft to the front axle stops. I am wondering if anyone hase any experiance with this.
it would seem that there is some sort of slip clutch. can you confirm this and how can it be repaired. thank you for your time.

They are better known as a Long 445 or Universal. Built under patents from Fiat. Generally made in Romania.

Can't answer your question why the front axle quits turning. May not be completely engaging.

I have removed the drive shaft at the transmission end and put two bolts in the output shaft flange.
then with the tractor in gear and 4wd lever engaged, used a 45 cm lever and with about 4o to 50 lbs applied to the lever the flange turns. it feels as if it slips then grabs. when it slips there is no noise to indicate damaged splines or gears. Also worth noting when you drive the tractor you can see the shaft turn and then stop turning and then turn again as if it is some sort of overload clutch fault but i dont have a workshop manual on this tractor and not sure if it
even has an overload clutch for the 4 wheel drive.
