The misses asked me what I wanted for Christmas this morning. I promptly went to the computer and searched the classifieds on this and 5 other sites. I put my list together complete with pictures, prices, and location. I have it all laid out on the kitchen table for her when she gets home from the store. I also left a brief list of all my good deeds,a reminder that she got a new Suburban for her birthday and that I finished my honey-do list in a timely fashion. I sure hope she gets the hint. She doesn't have to get me all 53 things on my list, maybe just 5 or 10.

When my wife asks me what I want for Christmas I usually tell her American made tools or sporting goods (guns, knives, etc.). I thought about telling her I could use an 856 but if I did that there would probably be a box under the tree with something made by Ertl in it and I'm not really into toys. I guess I will go with my usual answer. What I really need to do is figure out something for my wife for Christmas. She looks like one of those Victoria Secret models which is pretty good for being over 50.

What I need is for someone to buy all of the things that I need to sell, (no room), and then I could get the wife something really nice.

So what all do you need to sell & where is the stuff located? (You'll have to list them on classifieds). Reminds me, this is a good time to donate a little to this Y-T website.

Well..... .....
Santa, I.E.(My Dad and Mom) got me a John Deere No. 55 ABH Hyd 3 bottom plow, which my Dad so lovingly repainted for me!!! I think the look on my wifes face belonged in the "priceless" commercial on TV when she saw it. I got it early as we will be transferring back to Va shortly and I am hauling my "G" back this week. So they wanted the plow to go and keep it company. But what I want most, is for my friends and shipmates, many of whom have already been deployed way past the normal amount of time we all spend at sea, to know the peace of the holliday for which no material gift can ever replace..

What you have to say is "hey honey I wouldnt mind having one of those babes under the tree, I will make sure that they clean the house too" Then throw in a comment like "boy I wish you could look like the victoria secret women" That doesnt go over to well though.

I told her anything in Cabela's, Gemplers, or Deluth Trading and she couldnt go wrong since I thought the new 10 ton hydraulic dump trailer (that I really want) was a little above her price range.

I think one of those auto-darkening welding helmets would be nice. There is such a price spread in them these days I'm not sure which way to turn. Problem is that me and the missus have really cut back on spending between us at Christmas these last few years (since we've already got more stuff than we want or need). Any comments on the welding helmet purchase, present or not?

Alberta Mike -
Check out this helmet. I like the idea and have asked for one on Christmas list. Clear vision vs. shaded lens on the auto-darkening.

I'm no welder, but being able to strike exactly where you want is a great help and the 'several tacks at a time' without the trouble with removing the helmet to check every position, makes for a much better job and is so much easier for me. Get one with a suitable darkness adjustment for your range of work. The really cheap ones don't have it, or are not too stable. I opted for a battery operated one rather than the solar cell, as I prefer to use rechargeable batteries around the home.
Also, the actual helmet is part of the price and these can be rubbish on some. Better to try the one you are going to get, rather than find the adjusment is uncomfortable or downright impossible. The welding window is small on some of the cheaper ones and I would not recommend them.
Basically, you pays your money and.....the more expensive ones are probably worth it in the long run, depending on how much welding you do.
Regards and have a happy Christmas, RAB
