OK, i got this twin cylinder to run the other weekend and it ran perfect. I would shut it off and come back later and it would start right up. The weekend after that i went to start it and it just cranked and cranked. I had approx. 65 psi in both cylinders and now it seems to only have 35 psi in the left side and 65 still on the right. What do i do now? I did get it to run by choking the carb with a rag. Then i left it to idle and it shut off by itself.

If you only have 35 psi in a cylinder this would indicate a valve problem letting compression leak off.

Had same problem with my Bolens. Ended up being the exhaust valve seat being loose in the block and tipping a little so the valve couldn't close. Ended up stakeing the seat with a punch and buying a new head gasket (6.00) And it been good for about two years. Local small engine guy said its pretty common for these engines and would have to replace the engine for about 1,100.00! Tractor isn't even worth that. Good luck.
