Went out to the shop this afternoon to putter with some parts etc. Decided to change the oil in my pickup too as long as I would have my workin' duds on.Everything was going well till I discovered a wee bit of a coolant leak while adding the fresh oil.So- off to the auto parts store to get some new heater hose and anti-freze.So-- as long as I gotta crawl under to find the radiator petcock, might as well carry the grease gun and give everything a shot of grease.Gee as long as I'm all dirty now might as well check the differentals & transfer case too.And so it went, about 2 hours total for what was going to be a 15 min. oil change.Oh well, it needed it any way.I did manage to get around to cleaning up some parts in the solvent tank though. But thats the way it goes, some times I don't even have a clue what I'll end up doing, just going out to putter. Great way to unwind!Wife thinks I'm nuts!

If you actually finished everything you headed out to do without getting sidetracked somewhere along the way you'd never have any half finished projects to get sidetracked onto the next time you went out to do something. It may take 8 hours over 6 months to get one 30 minute job complete, but just look at all the other work that gets done at the same time. That's what puttering around is all about, just a bunch of little jobs to keep things busy, and exciting without any one of them getting to the point of being boring. Besides for those of you that are married, it always gives you at least one project to use as a weak excuse that you already to have "something important" to do when the dreaded HONEYDEW list comes up.....
Have fun puttering.....
