Hello Does Anybody Know Where I Can Buy A New Rear Wheel Lock For My 1941 H.I Tried Ebay,And The Local IH Store Here But They Don't Sell Stuff That Old. The Lock Is A Sleeve That Slides In The Hub Of The Rear Wheel To Keep It From Spinning On The Shaft It Has 4 Large Bolts That Bolt The Wheel To The Lock Ans A Key Way In There To Shear If Something Went Wrong. Mine Broke In Half Ans It Is Cast From The Looks Of Is. My Tractor Is Worthless Without It And We Just Got 8 Inches Of Snow!! Please Let Me Know If A Junk Dealer Might Have One.. Thank You Kevin Brown South Dakota!!

Kevin,

Give Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch a call at (785) 548-7437. Bet he's got one on hand and at a reasonable price. HTH Larry

Larry I had the same thing to happen one time ,the keyway is on the hub and breaks off, I asked a retired IHC mechanic about this and here is what he told me. " unbelivably the cast in the hub can be filed. so get you a 10 or 12 inch file and file where the key way broke off and recess it like the keyway on the axle, the go buy you some key stock to slide into both pieces " ( I don't recall the size whether 1/2 or 3/8 but measure slot in axle and get keystock to a fairly smug fit in both parts That was years ago and that cured the problem . Get the key stock before filing so you wan't cut too much out of hub.
