A co-worker told me about a couple tractors his granddad has that are sitting in his pasture. He asked if I was interested in purchasing them. I went down Friday and found them to be a D series Allis and a Farmall C or Super C (not sure). Tires seem good with good tread, no holes in the engines that I can see but are probably locked up as the exhaust were uncovered for 20 years. Anyway I told him I may be interested so he would check with his granddad. He called me today and said they were mine free if I wanted them. There is a wrecker service a couple blocks from where the tractors are that said they will load on my trailer for $50. The Lord is good.

This is a good deal. BUT, these are not free tractors. As has been said, you will spend more getting them running than if you went out and bought running tractors. Sitting for 20 years almost guarantees this. On the other hand, a great project, and you will get a lot of satisfaction, fun and joy out of saving these tractors. Go for it! And if you decide you don't want to do it, you will be able to know you saved these two tractors if you sell or pass them on to someone else whow will repair them. Good luck with them if you do it and let us know what you find and the problems you have to solve.

Probably be cheaper to buy a running one than
to fix those up.If you figure your time at
anything then your really in the hole. You can buy
good C's for arond 1000 to 1500.

All some people can think about is pennies . . . . where's the fun in buying a good running old tractor? I'm a farmer, and I have good running tractors, but I picked up an old klunker H that just barely runs at an auction. I know I'll have way more in it than I could ever make back on it if I sold it, but I'll enjoy making that old tractor run like new again. When it's done, it will take its place with my uncle's restored F-20, and my late grandfather's NAA and MF65 as working tractors on the farm.

Better get them quick :-). Three years ago the farm accross the road from me had a for sale sign go up on a Saturday. I called the realtor looked at it on Sunday. Price was $145,000 for 95 acres with a liveable, but old small farm house. I made an offer at list price that Sunday night. There were 3 other offers at list that Monday morning through multiple listing. If I had waited, I would have lost out. Sold the house and 5 acres for $75,000 and a 5 acre tract for $25,000. Sold them both before the closing, closed all 3 the same day. Been offered going rate ($2000/acre) for the balance.
