I can't find a gasket for the oilpan on my Case 300. Should I make one out of roll gasket material or can I use the gaket material in a tube. I have had good luck with Greatstuff in the past.

I used the silicone stuff on the final drive covers on my tractor, and it leaked like crazy. I took all that off and used cork roll gasket and a little sealer, and it's doing just fine so far, I would assume it would work OK on an oil pan as well, as long as both surfaces are flat.

Hi Lincoln

Assuming your 300 has the G148 engine and there is a Case dealer nearby that can CONFIRM these p/n's:

Oil pan gsk kit G11010 = A40710
includes drain plug gsk VT4520 = A30059

Don't forget your wallet (about $30).

Joe

Maybe you mean the silicone in the cheeze wizard can? I have had good luck with it. Like the other guy said don't get it inside though. That foam stuff is really just for sealing out dust and air and works great to keep dust out of tractor cabs.

Greatstuff isn't that the "foam in the can" stuff? Considering the mess that it makes and the swelling it does, it will no doubt expand into the inside of the oilpan and eventually be picked up by the suction tube etc. etc. etc. I can't believe a gasket is not available but if so, I would use the red form a gasket by permatex or some other form of gasket in the tube sparingly, with the emphasis on sparingly.

For a flat oil pan gaskets as on my Olivers a roll of cork from Ace hardware works great and lot easier to get. A thin coat of RTV with the cork never had a leak yet.
