What oil should I use in my Grandpa's old 1947 Blizburg?

I didn't know the Blitzburg needed oil. My great grandfather always used 90 proof whiskey. ( at least that's what he told my great grandmother) Must have used a lot too. He always carried a jug on the tractor with him. Had to refill the jug every day.

Why don't you just use the Blizburg oil? You can
buy it anywhere and its cheap when buying by the
100 gallon barrels. (otherwise just let grandpa
do it.)

Absolutely, Only use Blitzburg oil. Especially only use Blitz-tran in the transmission and hydraulics.

Put in what you have that is 30W that is the cheapest. You are not going to wear it out in your lifetime. The only way you will is if you don't put any oil at all in.----deadeye

Blizburg is a bit of a running joke. Usually refers to some modest device and the exagirated descrition of it's abilities. A few threads back I was is a crusty mood and asked why someone was asking for the 40th time this year," is it alright to run unleaded in my xxx". The other favourite repeat question is of course the straight weight/multiweight and detergent/non detergent oil. Many people seem to believe that the new oil wrecks the old engines. Fact is the tractor/truck/what ever was parked 30-50 years ago because the engine was rattling to death then.

A little top oil from the barber shops of the late 40's, also used to style hair is best.

How much per tank. Seems like a little dab will do ya.
