Just finished rebuilding the engine and started up. I have to keep the chock about half open to keep it running and the throttle about half open too. the engine is surging. I have clean gas, a carb off a another c that runs good and a new gas line. Can anybody tell me what to check next. thanks matt

Start it up and spray WD40 around the intake wher it mounts to the head . If the intake gasket is leaking it should speed up a bit and you will find the culprit.

Sounds like you may be sucking air someplace. I had a C that surged and that was the problem.

Again,

Or, if not that, how about a vacuum leak...manifold gasket in place?
