I've been looking at dump trailers with a 4 yard
load and a GVW of 11,250 lbs. There are a lot of
brands to pick from (Brimar, CAM, EZ Dumper, etc.)
Does anyone have a recommendation or must avoid
brand? I need to haul sawdust, woodchips and even
donkey fazoo. Thanks.

Check with your local DMV before you make your purchase. A trailer with a 10,000 pound gross rating could require a CDL license in your state in order to tow it on the highway.

Of course, if you already have a CDL endorsement, then disregard this reply. :-)

Another good legal point. The tag on mine actually says: 9,999 pounds. I just consider it 10,000 pounds.

One thing to look for is, that it raises nearly straight up.!! If it doesn't, nothing "wet or sticky" will come out of it worth a darn!! Robert

Good point Robert. My brimar goes almost strait up. Sometimes it does have to be at that point before things start moving. It depends on the loaded material , time of year , wet/dry , etc..

My dump trailer is a Brimar. Rated at 10,000 pounds. It hauls good , trails good , and dumps good. I almost forgot to mention that my tailgate use to open like the gate on a dump truck. Debris from jobs would hang up on the top part of the tailgate , stopping the load from dumping. I changed the tailgate so that it swings side ways , and latches along the side of the trailer for dumping. Now when I dump , the whole back of the trailer is wide open. The whole load dumps nice! When it comes to dump trailers , have the tailgate swing sideways. Very Happy with the Brimar trailer I have. It was new in 1997.
