Does anyone know how many bottom and what size moldboard plow the JD 4010D was rated for? Thanks.

4-16"s would be a good match in most ground.

We have what I would consided average ground here and w ealways pulled 5-16's in 3rd gear. But looking back I'm thinking we might have been better off pulling 4-16's in 4th-The 4010 was never turned up, it was just as it left the factory.

MAN.... How could You stand plowing THAT slow?!?! We tried 5-14's with either a Noble or Midwest plow-harrow on to smooth the ground. Too much for a mostly stock 4010-D, pulled the back bottom off the plow and lost the harrow and ran 4-14's in 5th in old corn ground and 4th in old alfalfa sod. Problem with pulling too big a plow that slow is the wheel slippage, Much better to pull smaller plow faster, less strain on the rearend, less tire wear, get as much work done anyhow!

I have an old JD f145 plow, in 4x14" which was formerly used with a 3020. Since I refuse to go out and but a bigger plow (I'd have to find someone to buy the old one 1st--lol) I still use this plow behind a 4020. Now the 4020 might be better with 5x16' but it hardly knows it's hitched up to the 4x14 and I have plowed in 6th! Usually I plow in 5th but IT WILL PULL IT IN 6th, IN SOD!
