starting in 1935, prefix 1h or 2u were all about 34000 lbs to just under 36000 lbs. The H models,
1958 jumped to 48000+. The K models were just over 57000 lbs. These weights include a 170 lb operator, and all fluids. They do not include ANY attachments. If your moving an H model, with a semi-U blade, I always use 60,000lbs. Larry

If I recall correctly, a D8 model 14A with a bulldozer and cable control unit attached weighs around 60,000 lbs.

If your shipper doesn't have a good idea what your machine weighs, maybe you should find another trucker. You need someone who specializes in moving heavy equipment.

if its an original d8 then your only looking at 25 tons for blade and all, because a d8h with blade weighs 70000lbs.
what is the serial number and i could tell you exactly??

Hard to say with info provided! Does it have a blade and ripper installed? What type? These items can change weight by 10,000 to 12,000 lbs each. What model is it. I think you would be better served by a quick call to CAT with your model number and what attachments it has installed and let them tell you the weight. As a guess and only a guess I would say 80,000 to 90,000 lbs or 40 to 45 tons. If you are going more than a short distance you should be able to get it down to say 30 to 35 tons for shipping by stripping and loading items onto a second truck. Will save you on your over weight permit and DOT will probley insist on it anyway.
AGAIN this is only a guess!!!
